Episode 12
Bucket Lists & Big Dreams: What We Really Want
This week on We Should Probably Edit This – But We Won’t, Nancy and Matthew dive deep (and occasionally off the rails) into their ultimate bucket list dreams. From solo trips with each of their kids to epic adventures with their grandkids, a month in Europe, building a backyard guest house, and the eternal dream of finally owning a convertible—no goal is too big, too small, or too ridiculous.
They explore what really matters in life: connection, impact, joy, and the freedom to laugh until you can’t breathe—preferably in beautiful places, and possibly with a dog.
It’s part wishlist, part life audit, and full of surprises (including chickens, yachts, and the Great Cat Debate). Whether you’re crafting your own list or just along for the ride, this episode is your reminder to dream big, start now, and support the people around you in chasing what lights them up.

Hi, I'm Matthew Greger.
Speaker B:And I'm Nancy Greger.
Speaker A:We have this new podcast called We Should Probably Edit this, but we won't.
Speaker A:Hi.
Speaker B:Hello.
Speaker A:It's time for another edition.
Speaker B:We Should Probably Edit this, but we won't.
Speaker A:Okay, so what's today's topic?
Speaker B:So today's topic is bucket list.
Speaker B:Okay, so we went out today with some friends and we.
Speaker B:We.
Speaker B:The topic of the bucket list came up.
Speaker A:And what does a bucket list mean to you?
Speaker A:Before we got into.
Speaker A:Get into details?
Speaker B:Well, I was talking my story.
Speaker B:I was getting to the point of a bucket list.
Speaker A:Okay, that's fine.
Speaker A:But just tell what it means to you before you start talking about.
Speaker A:But go ahead.
Speaker A:Sorry to interrupt you.
Speaker A:That's what I do best, isn't it?
Speaker B:You're getting to that point where the best.
Speaker B:So what is a bucket list?
Speaker B:I think a bucket list is items that you want to be able to accomplish at some point in time in your life or has some specific meaning or gives you some meaning or gives more clarity to what it is that you want to do.
Speaker B:That's what I think a bucket list is.
Speaker A:And when we got the dinghy bell going again, well, we didn't take care of the cat.
Speaker B:He has to eat.
Speaker B:That's just.
Speaker B:That's just life.
Speaker B:This is life.
Speaker B:This isn't perfection.
Speaker B:So stop trying to like perfect moments in time, because they're not going to exist.
Speaker B:You're always going to have some type of interruption.
Speaker B:So get over it.
Speaker B:So as we went back, so we're in the car and we're talking to our friends about what it is that they want or what it is.
Speaker B:What's on their bucket list, I think, is what we came up with.
Speaker A:Okay, well, I mean, to me, a bucket list is not necessarily that event or the thing you're going to.
Speaker A:But what's the intention behind it?
Speaker A:Like.
Speaker A:Like, why do you want to do something?
Speaker A:You know, is it to make new connections, to connect with where you're going to have a specific, you know, outcome or.
Speaker A:Or connection with, like, each other when we do something or with myself and where I'm going, you know, does it make an impact?
Speaker A:Does it bring you joy?
Speaker B:Well, there's a lot of depth going into this.
Speaker B:This to just.
Speaker A:I know, but this is just about thinking about the bucket list.
Speaker A:You know, I took time to think about it on the way home.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:All right, go on.
Speaker B:There's always a difference between your approach and mine.
Speaker B:I get.
Speaker A:Correct.
Speaker A:Correct.
Speaker A:And I'll get.
Speaker A:And I'll get into mine.
Speaker A:In a.
Speaker A:In a minute.
Speaker B:Well, tell me what's up since you started.
Speaker B:Tell me what's on your bucket list.
Speaker A:All right, I'll start with.
Speaker A:The first one is taking trips with family.
Speaker A:To me, this means each one of our kids separately.
Speaker A:I like to do.
Speaker A:Take a.
Speaker A:Take a trip with them and something maybe they want to do, too, but I want to do.
Speaker A:So that's one thing.
Speaker A:Is to be able to go somewhere with each one independently.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:That may be with you.
Speaker A:It may just be with me.
Speaker B:And then you can go on your own.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:And then also taking our grandkids on trips.
Speaker A:I think that's something that we share together as something to do.
Speaker B:Stick to your list.
Speaker A:I know.
Speaker B:Stick to my list.
Speaker A:All right, That's.
Speaker A:That's my first one.
Speaker A:So what's.
Speaker A:What's yours?
Speaker B:Oh, go down.
Speaker A:No, I'm not going to go down my whole list.
Speaker A:Let's go back and forth.
Speaker B:So one of the items on my bucket list is to.
Speaker B:And I wanted to put my glasses on because I wrote them down.
Speaker A:It's okay.
Speaker A:The glare won't be too bad.
Speaker B:Is to travel and stay for at least one month in three specific countries.
Speaker B:Spain, Italy, and Portugal.
Speaker B:I'd like to be able to travel to them and stay there for at least a month because they think when you.
Speaker B:When you're going to travel, you don't want to be rushed.
Speaker B:And I feel sometimes we rush.
Speaker B:We have seven days or we've got 10 days.
Speaker B:And you try your very best to get so much done in such a short period of time that I.
Speaker B:I think for me, that would.
Speaker B:That I don't want to rush through a travel experience.
Speaker B:I want to be able to take my time and know that I can stay there for a month and really get to know the area well enough.
Speaker B:So that's one.
Speaker B:That's one of my items on the bucket list.
Speaker B:Those three countries, one month, stay one.
Speaker A:Month in each one.
Speaker B:One month in each one.
Speaker A:Now, it may be over a couple years, a few years.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker B:Well, it wouldn't be right one every month.
Speaker B:But it also could mean that I could work remotely.
Speaker B:I mean, I work remotely now, so if I needed to, I.
Speaker B:I wouldn't be opposed to say, hey, I'm gonna go to Spain and I'm gonna work from Spain.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And I'll be out there.
Speaker A:I'd like to be able to do that for sure.
Speaker A:To go.
Speaker A:To be.
Speaker A:Have that option to work.
Speaker B:Well, I think p.
Speaker B:I.
Speaker B:I think that's the one good outcome from COVID is.
Speaker B:Is that employers had to get used to people working remotely.
Speaker B:And I think people have made it successful.
Speaker B:They have been successful.
Speaker A:But working's not on your bucket list.
Speaker B:Working is not on the bucket list.
Speaker B:There's always going to be some level of work.
Speaker B:You're always going to be doing something you want to be doing something.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:But anyway.
Speaker A:Well, I would agree on my, on my list and these are in no particular order.
Speaker A:Travel is also on mine.
Speaker A:Where I would like to go is.
Speaker B:Is this the number two?
Speaker A:It's not my number.
Speaker A:Yes, my second one.
Speaker A:But.
Speaker A:But I'm.
Speaker A:But I'm coinciding it with yours.
Speaker B:You stick with yours, that's fine.
Speaker A:But I'm going to co.
Speaker A:Mingle.
Speaker A:I'm going to co.
Speaker A:Mingle.
Speaker A:Some of the things we want to do together.
Speaker A:And I agree, except on my list I have the Caribbean because I want to go to the different islands that are there.
Speaker A:I have Italy and Spain, so we have those two in common.
Speaker A:I want to find a beach or an island.
Speaker A:I don't know where that be in the.
Speaker A:May be in the Caribbean.
Speaker A:It might be overseas some.
Speaker A:It might be here in the U.S.
Speaker A:not sure.
Speaker A:Then I want to camp the West Coast.
Speaker A:I want to take a year and travel and camp along the West Coast.
Speaker A:California, Oregon and Washington, you know, in a mobile home or a van or something.
Speaker A:I don't want to be in a tent, but I do want to, I do want to spend the time on that.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:I'm hoping I'm not going to be alone or I might have to change.
Speaker B:Your children accompanying you?
Speaker A:No, no, no, no.
Speaker A:For a whole year.
Speaker A:No, that would be, that would be me and you.
Speaker A:That, I mean, look, that's my bucket list.
Speaker A:Whether, whether you allow me to go along with or not.
Speaker A:I also like to travel to Japan.
Speaker A:I'd like to see.
Speaker A:See that.
Speaker A:I think the blend of tradition and innovation in Japanese culture fascinates me.
Speaker A:It's a place that embodies curiosity and creativity, which is right in line with what I want to do.
Speaker A:But I also want to travel different parts of the U.S.
Speaker A:the Grand Canyon, I want to see that for sure in different, different parts.
Speaker A:There's parts in the US that are beautiful and that we just don't really know.
Speaker A:So.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:Traveling is part of mine too.
Speaker A:Okay, you're next for you.
Speaker B:So my, my second item on my bucket list is in my current home, I want an in ground pool and I want the guest house built to me.
Speaker B:That would complete my home.
Speaker B:There are some other design elements that I would do to the house, but to solidify this as being my home, it would include the in ground pool and a guest house.
Speaker B:I think a guest house.
Speaker B:As our children have gotten older and things become more complicated, it's always best to have a place where they can go, not necessarily being on top of you, you know, and even if friends came to visit or, you know, we have friends all the way across the country if they wanted to come, because we live in Connecticut, so if they wanted to come to say, go to New York, they could stay here at the guest house and they can travel into the city and not feel.
Speaker B:And, and we live in a community, quite frankly, that I think is really, really a nice community.
Speaker B:It has lots of things.
Speaker B:We got silver mine, we've got a lot of local stuff that make it a really nice community.
Speaker B:And so I think, I think that could be something that could have multi purpose items too.
Speaker B:Maybe we can Airbnb it.
Speaker B:You never know.
Speaker B:But I definitely want to be able to do that.
Speaker B:Our property is big enough to, well.
Speaker A:We already have the pool.
Speaker A:Well, it's, it's an old buried pool, but the edges, the edges are still there.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:You know, and when it rains really heavy, it becomes, it's a pool.
Speaker A:Yes.
Speaker A:You can see it.
Speaker B:You can see it.
Speaker B:You can then really have a great.
Speaker A:Vision where it's sunken in.
Speaker A:So you get the visual of what.
Speaker B:You get the visual of where could be there.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:So I definitely want to be able to do that.
Speaker B:I think that would just put the cherry on the cake to this house.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:I'm not so sure I want to stay in this house, but.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:So my, one of my other bucket list items is I want to laugh uncontrollably with people I love in beautiful places doing something ridiculous.
Speaker A:Now what that might be, you know what that ridiculousness might be?
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:It might be jumping off a cliff into the ocean.
Speaker A:It might be ziplining somewhere, but just having a good time.
Speaker B:Yeah, I see your face jumping off of a cliff into the ocean.
Speaker B:That is so not gonna happen.
Speaker B:But I'd watch you.
Speaker B:I'll film you jumping up so people could see.
Speaker A:Look, it's the jo of just having a great time, you know, that I, that I want to.
Speaker B:That's your vision of a great time?
Speaker B:I, I, I think that's, that's, that's your vision of a great time.
Speaker B:Just as long as you understand that.
Speaker A:But it's more about, it's more about having that deep belly laugh with people.
Speaker A:You Know how I can get sometimes when we can do that, when we have.
Speaker A:When we have just a really good time and we just laugh and, and you bring the joy and you do that and.
Speaker A:And I want to do that in, in places.
Speaker A:It may be places that we're traveling to, it may be other places, but it may be in.
Speaker A:In that new pool.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker B:Okay, here's number three.
Speaker A:How many did you do?
Speaker B:We said ten.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:I just want to make sure.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker B:So my third one that I have.
Speaker B:I want a new convertible.
Speaker B:Not an old car that's a convertible.
Speaker B:I want a new car.
Speaker A:Car that's a convertible.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B: to buy an MGB Convertibles in: Speaker A:I had a 74K that, that.
Speaker B:But you weren't 16 when you wanted it.
Speaker B:So I almost got my mom to.
Speaker B:My dad definitely was down for it, but when my mother saw the size of the car, she vetoed it almost instantaneously.
Speaker B:And ever since that moment in my life, I have wanted a convertible.
Speaker B:Now I've gotten older, so I don't want to have to crank anything.
Speaker B:I don't want to have to.
Speaker B:I want to push a button and have the top.
Speaker B:I want to push a button at the top, go back, and I want to have the car that I can drive year round.
Speaker B:So if, you know, on the fall day, it might be cold, but I'll crank that heat up.
Speaker B:If it's sunny, I'll put the top down and I will drive that convertible that way.
Speaker A:But what about snow?
Speaker B:Well, if it's snowing, I'll have the top up, but I want to be able.
Speaker B:That for me, is like an everyday car.
Speaker B:The.
Speaker B:The bonus of that car is that the top goes down.
Speaker B:That's the bonus to it.
Speaker B:So I definitely, for me, that's.
Speaker B:That's been something I always wanted since I was 16.
Speaker B:And I'm well past 16 and three kids later, four grandchildren later, and I'm still hoping for that convertible someday.
Speaker B:Okay, let's just read.
Speaker A:My next one would be to build wealth.
Speaker A:And that's not necessarily financial.
Speaker A:It's also, you know, something I leave inside my kids, grandkids and others.
Speaker A:You know, it's.
Speaker A:It's almost like that generational wealth or legacy that I want to leave behind.
Speaker A:At the same time, I also want to have financial freedom.
Speaker A:I want to be able to do the things on these, on the bucket list.
Speaker A:So I think I need to have that wealth in order to do that.
Speaker A:So I think that's something really important for me right now, especially at this stage of my life.
Speaker B:Agree.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker B:I agree.
Speaker B:So my fourth thing is very similar to one of your items that you mentioned, and that was visiting some iconic places in the United States.
Speaker B:So, like what?
Speaker B:You had the Grand Canyon, some of the U.
Speaker B:S.
Speaker B:National parks, some.
Speaker B:Some of those parks are gorgeous.
Speaker B:Yellowstone, Yosemite.
Speaker B:Yosemite.
Speaker B:Going to Montana.
Speaker B:Looking at the diversity of the country, I don't know if that.
Speaker B:That could be in combination with you wanting to travel, you know.
Speaker A:What do you mean?
Speaker A:We both want to travel?
Speaker B:No, no, what I mean, going from, like going in the United States, but maybe going cross country from, you know, what, east coast to west coast and kind of going in.
Speaker B:In through those places.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:And potentially, potentially in a mobile home.
Speaker B:Potentially in an rv.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:It would all depend on what the RV was equipped with.
Speaker A:I would assume it.
Speaker B:It.
Speaker B:And I would have to be able to drive it just as much as.
Speaker A:Well, you drove.
Speaker A:You drove a school bus.
Speaker B:I know, but.
Speaker A:So you did have a commercial license.
Speaker B:I did, but it's not the same thing.
Speaker B:But it would have to be something that I would have to be just as comfortable driving.
Speaker A:And you would be okay with a motorcycle too?
Speaker B:No.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:Because, I mean, if we had.
Speaker A:If we had the rv, the.
Speaker A:The best economical vehicle to go along with it would be a motorcycle.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:No.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:However, when I travel to Italy, I would do a Vespa just to try it.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker B:Just to try it.
Speaker B:I think we should definitely try motorcycles.
Speaker A:I think we should try that locally first before we go to a foreign country and try to figure it out.
Speaker A:Might be a good idea if it.
Speaker B:Is a big space.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:Where I'm not necessarily going to anyway, so.
Speaker B:So that.
Speaker B:That would be.
Speaker B:That would be what I would be looking for because there is so much here in the United States.
Speaker B:I agree.
Speaker B:Phoenix, you know, going well, I don't know about Phoenix.
Speaker B:Well, I mean, the Grand Canyon, Arizona in itself.
Speaker B:I think there's lots.
Speaker B:Utah, places like that.
Speaker B:I think Colorado.
Speaker B:I'd like to see this.
Speaker A:The Rocky Mountains.
Speaker B:The Rocky Mountains.
Speaker B:We've gone through the smoke, through the.
Speaker B:The Smoky Mountains here.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, but.
Speaker B:Yeah, but that.
Speaker B:That's.
Speaker B:That's another one on my list.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:My next one would be.
Speaker A:Is I would like to help a million people discover their brilliance through coaching, books, podcasts, conversations that spark the aha.
Speaker A:Moments.
Speaker A:It's the dreams of others that I help make, you know, true.
Speaker A:That, I think, is something important to me.
Speaker A:There's.
Speaker A:That's what drives me.
Speaker A:Okay, so if I could actually make that hundred, that.
Speaker A:That million mark, that'd be great.
Speaker B:Yeah, that would be great.
Speaker B:However, even if you only made 10, it'd still be great.
Speaker A:Are you doubting my ability?
Speaker B:No, but what I'm saying is, is that you can't necessarily disregard that.
Speaker B:You only can change one person's life.
Speaker B:You don't know what.
Speaker A:Yeah, I'm not.
Speaker A:I'm talking about the ripple effect.
Speaker A:You know, I may not reach a million people myself.
Speaker B:Mm.
Speaker A:But through what I'm doing, I would love it.
Speaker A:To reach a million.
Speaker B:To reach people.
Speaker B:That's more realistic.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:If you're gonna talk to a million people, forget.
Speaker A:Well, there's gonna be.
Speaker A:There's gonna be.
Speaker A:There's gonna be more to that in a minute.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So one of my other goals, which is very similar on my bucket list, very similar to what you had in your bucket list, was to take my grandchildren on epic adventure.
Speaker A:Epic adventures.
Speaker B:Epic adventures.
Speaker A:Well, that might.
Speaker A:That might line up with.
Speaker A:With the one that I talked about laughing uncontrollably with people I love.
Speaker B:Well, that.
Speaker B:That.
Speaker B:That could be a byproduct of something that.
Speaker B:That we take.
Speaker A:We could do ridiculous things with our grandkids.
Speaker B:We could.
Speaker B:We could.
Speaker A:So that might just meet my.
Speaker B:I've actually looked at taking my grandchildren to Costa Rica and go ziplining through the jungles.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker A:And you just told me a minute ago you weren't going to be ziplining.
Speaker A:You'd be watching me do it.
Speaker B:I said I would not jump off the cliff into the water.
Speaker B:I didn't say anything about ziplining.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker B:I said jumping off a cliff into the ocean, that is a definite no.
Speaker B:No, no, no.
Speaker B:But going to.
Speaker B:Taking my grandchildren to China or Japan, I'd love to do that.
Speaker B:I'd love to make a great wall.
Speaker B:Take them with me.
Speaker A:That would also fit my Japan.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:So there.
Speaker B:Like I said, there are things that are very much in common.
Speaker A:And I know someone that's from China that would love to give us a tour of the country.
Speaker B:You.
Speaker B:I know you do, and we could.
Speaker B:We definitely would find that.
Speaker B:I think it would be very historical.
Speaker B:I also think that my.
Speaker B:I think that to some extent, I would like to take my grandchildren, like I did when I was younger, to South America, like, to Colombia, potentially pick their own chicken.
Speaker B:I don't know if they still do that, but I would definitely.
Speaker A:I bet they do.
Speaker A:Nothing like a Fresh chicken.
Speaker B:Nothing like a fresh chicken.
Speaker B:I would imagine that that would be.
Speaker B:But I remember when I was 12, that's.
Speaker B:I.
Speaker B:I went to South America, and that moment, it is.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:And look how old I am.
Speaker A:I mean, it's.
Speaker A:It's something I think that they would remember, you know, for a long time.
Speaker B:I think it's important that you know where your.
Speaker B:Your family came from and kind of under.
Speaker B:Have a better understanding of when people ask you, because they'll always ask you, where are you from?
Speaker B:You might be a citizen of the United States.
Speaker B:I'm not saying you.
Speaker A:You're not.
Speaker B:But I'm a citizen of the United States.
Speaker B:However, my family and my history is from a different part of the world, and I think it's important for kids to know that.
Speaker B:Okay, so that'd be one.
Speaker A:Is it my turn?
Speaker A:Okay, so I think what else is on my list is going along with my.
Speaker A:One that I just talked about is that I'd like to write a documentary or a film that captures the moment someone discovers their brilliance.
Speaker A:It's about.
Speaker A:Because sometimes storytelling says what words cannot.
Speaker A:And so I'd love to be able to show them experiencing that aha moment that turned that around for them.
Speaker A:And I think it would make a great story and a great, great documentary.
Speaker B:That does sound cool.
Speaker B:Okay, my next one, which you're gonna hate.
Speaker B:I know you're gonna hate it.
Speaker A:Why am I gonna hate it?
Speaker B:Because I want a dog.
Speaker A:That's okay.
Speaker A:It can be on your bucket list.
Speaker A:But I would like to travel before we get the dog.
Speaker B:I can take the dog in the rv.
Speaker A:That's okay.
Speaker B:If you want to take an rv.
Speaker A:I would do that, but we're going.
Speaker B:To take the dog.
Speaker A:But one month in Spain and in Portugal.
Speaker A:No, Italy.
Speaker A:I don't want an animal.
Speaker B:No, they.
Speaker B:They couldn't travel that.
Speaker B:That's too extensive.
Speaker B:Unless I ended up living in Portugal.
Speaker B:Sp.
Speaker B:Spain or Italy.
Speaker A:I mean, for a month, it would.
Speaker B:Be a different story.
Speaker B:But if it was just us vacationing, doesn't necessarily like.
Speaker B:To me, those would be short vacations.
Speaker B:Right, But.
Speaker B:And they're not every single month.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:It's like.
Speaker A:No, I know.
Speaker B:Once every year is when you're gonna go, and I think that would be okay.
Speaker B:But I want to talk.
Speaker A:Can we wait till the.
Speaker A:Can we wait till the cat.
Speaker B:I'm waiting for that cat.
Speaker B:I'm gonna be.
Speaker B:I'm gonna be 70 before that cat gives out.
Speaker A:Probably.
Speaker B:I am.
Speaker B:I'm gonna be 70.
Speaker A:We haven't had.
Speaker A:We haven't I don't think we've been able to keep a cat past six years.
Speaker A:And then.
Speaker A:And then we've got.
Speaker B:Guess what?
Speaker B:We got the street cat who, you know, is.
Speaker B:Has definitely nine lives.
Speaker B:Probably definitely nine lives.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:A dog.
Speaker A:Well, what kind of dog?
Speaker B:I don't know.
Speaker B:I mean, I've had beardies, bearded collies.
Speaker B:I like them.
Speaker B:I don't know yet.
Speaker B:It has to be something.
Speaker B:I don't want a small dog necessarily, though.
Speaker B:I think a small dog is cool because I would put him in a pocketbook and go, you know, shopping.
Speaker B:I'd be one of those ladies, by the way, take the dog.
Speaker B:But I've seen.
Speaker B:But I've seen, like, what was the.
Speaker B:The.
Speaker B:I think they're.
Speaker B:I think they're.
Speaker B:They're not labs, they're golden retrievers.
Speaker B:And I saw.
Speaker A:Remember, this is what your brother has.
Speaker B:He's got a mix.
Speaker B:We went to Miami one time.
Speaker B:I remember there was a guy on the plane and he had two of them.
Speaker B:He actually bought the whole row.
Speaker B:Those were the most well behaved big dogs I have ever seen.
Speaker B:They were so.
Speaker B:They were impeccable.
Speaker B:Like, something like that.
Speaker B:And I would.
Speaker B:I would definitely, because I don't have children and I don't have all that chaos going around.
Speaker B:That dog would be very privileged.
Speaker B:Would have.
Speaker B:And we definitely know a lot of things, and we would be doing a lot of things.
Speaker A:Well, I know a dog is in my future.
Speaker A:I just like it to be a little bit more distant future for a little while.
Speaker A:And we have to deal with a puppy at the moment.
Speaker A:You know, it's not our dog, but we will be watching.
Speaker A:Watching her, so.
Speaker A:Yeah, so.
Speaker A:And she still needs a little work.
Speaker B:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker B:But it's okay because, you know, like, it's like small children, eventually they go back to their original parents and you're out of it.
Speaker B:Right.
Speaker B:So you.
Speaker B:You do a little bit, and then you're like, okay, goodbye.
Speaker B:Make sure you take all your stuff with you.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:My next one is to find the perfect beach house.
Speaker A:You may want a pool, but I really would like a beach house.
Speaker A:I would.
Speaker A:I would like a.
Speaker A:I would like a place.
Speaker A:I really.
Speaker A:If we're going to stay in this house, I don't want to be here from January through March.
Speaker A:I'll.
Speaker A:I'll be here through the holidays, and then January, I want to go.
Speaker A:I want to.
Speaker A:I want to be at that beach house.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:There.
Speaker A:And that house is the house that I want everybody to be able to vacation to, you know?
Speaker A:I don't say at the same time because I don't want it to be that huge, but it's a, it's a.
Speaker B:It'S a, it's a two bedroom, two bath.
Speaker A:It's a place that family can come and go.
Speaker B:It's a tiny house on a piece of land on the beach.
Speaker B:It's a tiny house because that would definitely mean.
Speaker B:Shit visit.
Speaker A:That would mean, that would mean camping's involved and it's not going to be us.
Speaker A:But, but there would be a place.
Speaker A:I don't know who knows how.
Speaker A:When I say perfect, I'm not sure what that I need now.
Speaker A:I need to get specific on what that is.
Speaker A:But, but it would be a beach house.
Speaker A:You know, maybe at some point we live there year round, I don't know.
Speaker A:But I would at least like to be able to go there through the wintertime and, and a place that we can always go on vacation.
Speaker A:I'd like to travel too, but I do want to have that one destination.
Speaker A:And if our kids want to go somewhere, they have a place to go that they don't have to worry about spending a lot of money to or they can just come and visit.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker A:Hang out.
Speaker B:I, I would say to you that that's all well and good, but somehow I never just.
Speaker B:I don't want to necessarily do something with the vision of having my children necessarily partake.
Speaker A:Well, I'm not asking them to partake, but they can have a place.
Speaker A:They can come visit.
Speaker B:Yeah, but that's.
Speaker A:That just like this.
Speaker A:They have a place to come visit too.
Speaker A:But if they want to go, if they want to go there for their own vacation, they can.
Speaker A:Okay, you know, that's fine, but, but it's not the important part of that.
Speaker B:I would buy it.
Speaker A:Correct.
Speaker A:The reason I'd buy it is for me from, from January through March I don't want to be here.
Speaker A:I mean, I would start there in November, but I think, I think there's something about, I think there's something about.
Speaker B:The northeast and the holidays is a no brainer.
Speaker A:I don't think I want to be in the heat during Christmas.
Speaker A:No, no, no.
Speaker A:Now, right after that.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:It's like Santa Claus, you know, when he goes on vacation after.
Speaker A:No, when he's got to be.
Speaker A:He's got to come to a warm place after Christmas though.
Speaker B:Vacation.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:To relax.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:So my next one is I'd like to do more volunteering at the church that we're going to.
Speaker B:Now they're, they're doing Some church missions, and they've done some to some different parts of the world.
Speaker B:I think I'd want to do that.
Speaker B:I want to experience that to see what that's all about.
Speaker A:Missionary.
Speaker B:Yeah, missionary trip.
Speaker B:To see what that would be all about.
Speaker B:I think it would be overall enlightening and something that you can share, you know, the gospel with and help somebody else in a different country understand.
Speaker A:Maybe that'll be that.
Speaker A:Maybe that'll fit some of the traveling we want to do in a different capacity.
Speaker B:It would be a totally different capacity.
Speaker A:Correct.
Speaker A:But it still gives.
Speaker A:It allows us to see other parts of the world.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:I don't think, though, when you go on mission trips, you're going to see much other than the destination that you're going to.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:But that alone is another part of the world.
Speaker B:It is.
Speaker B:It can be.
Speaker B:And I definitely would want to do it in another part of the world.
Speaker B:I don't know if I'd do like a local missionary, like the one they're.
Speaker A:Doing to help the.
Speaker B:To go down in North Carolina.
Speaker B:Yeah, I don't think that one would necessarily.
Speaker A:I would only do it because they're looking for people that can help, like build and fix things.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:But I've gone to Habitat for Humanity and they're right here.
Speaker B:I can go there and paint and sledge a hammer.
Speaker A:Well, I mean, if you're interested in that, you should start exploring it now.
Speaker A:They have different classes.
Speaker B:I know they have some different things that are coming up.
Speaker B:So.
Speaker B:Yeah, I have to.
Speaker B:I have to look up.
Speaker B:But that's one of my, one of my bucket list items.
Speaker B:I'd like to see what that's about.
Speaker A:My next one is to learn something new every year and then teach it forward.
Speaker A:So basically, whether it's additional woodworking skills or fly fishing, I'd like to really be.
Speaker A:Become a much better fly fish fisherman, which I'm not.
Speaker A:I haven't really done much of that at all.
Speaker A:Except for us.
Speaker A:We had a good.
Speaker A:We had a good time.
Speaker A:When you.
Speaker A:When you gave me that.
Speaker A:As a present.
Speaker A:Yeah, as a present.
Speaker A:And, and who caught the fish.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:The lady who didn't really want to go was only there as a supportive means.
Speaker B:And, and the person giving the gift.
Speaker A:The guide.
Speaker A:And the guide was working with you.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:And I said, listen, I'm.
Speaker B:It's.
Speaker B:You're not here for me.
Speaker B:You need to go to him.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:But I mean, it's, it's.
Speaker A:Then I would like to be able to teach my grandchildren something like that too, you know, Right.
Speaker A:And just always sharing something that I learned.
Speaker A:But like, specifically, every year, focus on one thing that I really want to get good at and work at that.
Speaker B:That sounds good.
Speaker B:Well, you know, you've done some of that, though.
Speaker B:You've.
Speaker B:You've got.
Speaker B:Gone.
Speaker B:Woodworking class.
Speaker A:Yeah, but I'm talking about, like a year spend on it.
Speaker A:Not.
Speaker A:Not every day or every week, but just like, build some different projects, build it up, like, really master something.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker A:You know, with it when I'm learning so that I can then actually teach somebody that skill too.
Speaker B:Okay.
Speaker B:So not.
Speaker B:My number eight is spend four days at a wellness retreat where some of.
Speaker A:The things don't have to.
Speaker A:Some of these things don't have to wait for a very long time.
Speaker B:No, I.
Speaker B:None of this has to wait for a very long time.
Speaker A:It has actually.
Speaker A:It's actually about.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's actually about start doing them.
Speaker A:So you don't have to wait till you.
Speaker B:It's about money, but otherwise don't.
Speaker B:But I.
Speaker B:I went recently with our daughter to a wellness facility.
Speaker B:We spent the day.
Speaker B:We did a day spa.
Speaker B:And this place was absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous.
Speaker B:It had beautiful views, lots of things to do.
Speaker B:And you can spend some real good time really, just focusing on you by taking other.
Speaker B:They had yoga classes.
Speaker B:They have everything you can think of.
Speaker B:I mean, it was a booklet of all the things you could participate in and do.
Speaker B:And I.
Speaker B:It was beautiful.
Speaker B:It's a beautiful setting, and it was very, very relaxing.
Speaker B:And I.
Speaker B:Sometimes when you're in that hustle and that bustle and you're just going around, it's good to spend a few days.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:And I wouldn't spend.
Speaker B:I.
Speaker B:The tops would be four days, you know, like three nights, four days type of scenario.
Speaker B:I don't think I would do more than that.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:So you really.
Speaker A:You really only have three days.
Speaker B:Three good days.
Speaker A:It's like two days and then two half days.
Speaker B:Correct.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker B:But I think that would be, you know, just kind of help reset your.
Speaker B:Your mind and help you reset what it is that you need.
Speaker A:Again, that could be.
Speaker A:That could be combined in some of the travels that we want to do, like a destination part of the US Find a place that has a wellness retreat.
Speaker A:Could be at a different part of the country.
Speaker B:Could be.
Speaker B:Could be.
Speaker B:But that's what that was on my.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:My number nine.
Speaker A:I know we're getting close to time today is really to mentor the next generation of innovators, helping young leaders discover their brilliance.
Speaker A:Of course, that's my theme.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:And make their mark on the world.
Speaker A:That would be deeply fulfilling to me, you know, and I'd like to create a tool that teaches curiosity in schools because I think, I think we're born with curiosity, but something happens and we, we stop being curious.
Speaker A:So I'd like to have something that, that teaches different grade levels to stay curious, you know, so kids grow up knowing that their questions are their real superpower.
Speaker A:So that's, that's something that I would like to do.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:My number nine was I'm a foodie.
Speaker B:I love to cook.
Speaker B:On occasion, I've cooked a lot in my life and I'm not afraid to cook.
Speaker B:And I think I'm a pretty good cook from time to time.
Speaker B:I've had some, well, you know, questionable thing, but I'm not afraid to try it and I'm not afraid to learn from it.
Speaker B:My.
Speaker B:Sometimes what I go to a really good restaurant.
Speaker B:If I have something that's really good, I might go back to that restaurant three times, have the same thing.
Speaker B:Because I'm trying to figure out how to master that at home, what is I need to do.
Speaker B:But I would like to go to a, at least a three star Michelin restaurant and I'd like to get, probably when I go to Italy, Spain and Portugal, find those three star Michelin restaurants and go there.
Speaker A:And I thought you, I thought you wanted to learn from them.
Speaker B:Well, I would learn from them by eating their food and seeing how they prepare their food.
Speaker B:You know, learning a craft from a Michelin chef always has great things.
Speaker B:Like if I went to Italy, one of my big things would probably be taking an Italian course on pasta making or figuring out how to master something.
Speaker B:I definitely would do that.
Speaker B:But going to a Michelin star restaurant, you going to experience food at a totally different level.
Speaker B:Like something you, you, you can only really fantasize and dream.
Speaker B:And if you've seen shows and you've seen how some of these people put things together, the visual parts of it is so appealing.
Speaker B:So I definitely would like to do that.
Speaker A:Okay, cool.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:Well, my, my last one on the top 10.
Speaker A:It's like I said, no particular order, but would have.
Speaker A:I want to have at least 10 great friends that want to do some of these things with us or with me or something like that.
Speaker A:And somebody I can play tennis with, someone that I can just hang out with, somebody I can go fishing with.
Speaker A:When you don't want to come fishing with me, which is all the time.
Speaker A:But, but that's what I like to do.
Speaker A:A minimum of 10 friends.
Speaker A:And they don't have to be here.
Speaker A:Right here.
Speaker A:They can be scattered throughout the world, but people that we're in contact with all the time.
Speaker A:But I do want some local friends, too.
Speaker B:Well, local friends would be good to go out and do certain things, Especially.
Speaker A:To go out fishing or playing tennis.
Speaker B:Well, that's you.
Speaker B:Yeah, Fishing and tennis.
Speaker B:That's not me.
Speaker B:Okay, you go make those 10 friends.
Speaker A:No, I want it.
Speaker A:We can make them together.
Speaker A:I mean, some can be just my own, but some are other couples that we like hanging out or traveling with.
Speaker A:I wouldn't mind going to some of these places with someone that I could really have a good time with too.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Finding that is.
Speaker B:Might be a little bit.
Speaker A:Well, that's why it's a bucket list item.
Speaker B:It's a bucket list item because it's.
Speaker A:Something I really wanted.
Speaker B:So my last one is I.
Speaker B:So I saw this show a long time ago.
Speaker B:I don't remember what it was, but it was people that rented a private boat.
Speaker B:Not just any kind of private boat.
Speaker B:I'm talking a yacht.
Speaker B:I'm talking the type of boat where you don't feel the waves.
Speaker B:Not a cruise.
Speaker B:Because I'm not a cruise person.
Speaker B:I wouldn't take a cruise, Especially the booby cruise I would do.
Speaker B:I would like to have an experience of island hopping while being on a big yacht.
Speaker B:So you could.
Speaker B:You could think about going, like, to St.
Speaker B:Thomas.
Speaker B:Visiting St.
Speaker B:Thomas.
Speaker A:That's definitely up there with me.
Speaker A:That's the way we could visit the Caribbean.
Speaker B:That.
Speaker B:That for me would be.
Speaker B:Because you're.
Speaker B:You're on a.
Speaker B:On a ship.
Speaker B:You're Someone's driving the ship for you.
Speaker A:A boat.
Speaker A:It would not be a ship.
Speaker B:Be a yacht.
Speaker B:Okay, it would be a yacht.
Speaker B:Let me define.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker B:A ship is like the cruise.
Speaker B:This would be a yacht.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker B:So it would be fairly large, and I'd love to be able to.
Speaker B:To do that.
Speaker B:Island hopped.
Speaker B:It could be in.
Speaker B:In Greece.
Speaker B:It could be in the Mediterranean.
Speaker B:But I'd like that because that combines two things.
Speaker B:I think it combines the water, it combines, you know, visiting some places, and it even has your boat.
Speaker B:But it's a big bowl.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker B:It's a big one.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:I'm all for that.
Speaker A:As long as I can throw a fishing line off the back of it once in a while.
Speaker B:I don't want you to bring fish towards me.
Speaker A:No, that's okay.
Speaker A:I'll catch, I'll catch, I'll catch.
Speaker A:If you don't have to be like in the water at the time.
Speaker A:I won't fish while you're swimming.
Speaker B:No, no, no.
Speaker A:But I.
Speaker A:But I would fish.
Speaker A:It might be dinner.
Speaker B:No, these.
Speaker A:But it wouldn't be prepared by me.
Speaker B:But I'd give it.
Speaker A:I'd give it to them to cook.
Speaker B:Give it to the chefs to cook.
Speaker A:All right, so we would love to hear about your bucket list.
Speaker B:What's on your bucket list?
Speaker B:Do you have a bucket list?
Speaker B:It's important to have a bucket list.
Speaker A:And if you don't start making one, make one up.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:Figure, don't make it up, but make one.
Speaker B:Well, make one that's related to what's important to you and what it is you want.
Speaker A:Everybody should have a bucket list, and you should know your friends bucket list so you can support them and encourage them to do it.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker A:So I'm going to encourage you to get that.
Speaker A:To find that yacht so we can go island hopping in the Caribbean.
Speaker A:So on that, we should probably edit.
Speaker B:This, but we won't.
Speaker A:Bye.
Speaker B:Bye.
